Pastor Brighton Kavaloh says, "European Sunday Weekly Rest Day Legislation Remains Unlawful."‏

Some of you may know Pastor Brighton Kavaloh of Holloway and Brixton/Croydon Churches.
You may be interested to reader a quote from him that I came across in this new book called "Anti-Christ is a Woman", citing Pst.Kavaloh's work for his PhD., where he calls the European Sunday Weekly Rest Day Legislation "unlawful". See note/quote no. 5 below:

"MODERN CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING HAS been fundamentally concerned with the question of how society ought to be organised and traces its roots to the publication of Pope Leo XIII’s encyclical Rerum Novarum (“Of New Things”), May 15, 1891.

Social Catholicism (a.k.a. Catholic social justice) is an attempt to employ Marxists ideology of class, and capitalism to address what the Catholic Church believes the governments should be doing to make people’s lives better and preserve their “human dignity.” This of course seems laudable and enphonious.

But this Catholic Social Justice is “social economics” based loosely on what in the EU is called “European social democracy,” or the “Third Way,” as was delineated in Pope Leo’s encyclical Rerum Novarum.

The agenda set by Catholic social teachings (of which President Obama is a fan) has been to promote and implement the values seen in the social movement called liberation theology, known more politely in democratic countries as social Catholicism, or Social Justice.

Now, it is true that publicly both Pope John Paul II and the current Pope Benedict XVI have denounced liberation theology. Note however, that the current Jesuit General Nicolás Adolfo—the “Black Pope”—the real power in the Vatican—has said in a November 2008 interview with the Spanish Newspaper El Periodico, that “liberation theology” is a “courageous and creative response to an unbearable situation of injustice in Latin America."[1] The new Superior General also added, “… liberation theology needs years to mature…. IT NEEDS MORE TIME.”[2] So, the denunciation of liberation theology by the two most recent popes is anything but a denunciation. Double-speak, sophistry and obfuscation have been developed into a fine art by the Vatican.

“What exactly is European social democracy?” you ask. This socio-political device employs a wide variety of Roman Catholic values, chief of which is what the Catholic Church calls, a worker’s right to “Sunday rest”! The EU’s Working Time Council Directive 93/104/EC of 23 November 1993, Article 5, second paragraph, stipulated that a minimum weekly rest period ‘SHALL IN PRINCIPLE INCLUDE SUNDAY.'[3]

However, on a challenge to this Directive in 1996, by the UK government, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) found that “There was no satisfactory explanation given why Sunday, as a weekly rest day, is more closely connected with the health and safety of workers than any other day of the week,"[4] and annulled that clause in the Directive. But the Catholic politicians on the European Commission and on the European Parliament urged by their Catholic bishops would not give up that easily. And so, again in 2008, during the revision of the Working Time Directive (Directive 2003/88/EC), seven MEPs supported by their Catholic Bishops (COMECE) initiated two amendments calling for the inclusion of a “Sunday weekly rest” clause.


                                           “A DAY TO SYNCHRONIZE SOCIETY”

"The object of these fanatics, these enemies of religious liberty, in demanding Sunday rest legislation is, they say, “to enhance the protection of worker’s health and the reconciliation of work and family."[6] And as we shall see below, they have been most successful in this ploy. They have the support of many MEPs, including Thomas Mann and Patrizia Toia. But we should expect nothing less from the sly; cunning; deceptive; tricky; wily old Papacy.
